Clapham United 1 Hackney WFC Firsts 0

Captain’s log – Sunday 29th September

It was a narrow defeat for Hackney this Sunday as they ventured to Clapham Common, which has really become our nemesis pitch in the last few seasons. The first 45 minutes saw a goalless half where Hackney lacked shape and composure. After tweaking the formation and the midfield we began to get players on and made some strong chances. Nieves narrowly missed a one on one where she had managed to pull her defender wide and in general we were beginning to open up their defence.

In the second half we continued in much the same way but failed to get the final finish or the final ball through. A defensive error at the back led to us conceding a goal and unfortunately with 10 minutes to go we could not produce anything to improve the situation. However, it was a good team effort and something we hope to improve on this week as we head to Clapham Common again, this time to face the Comets.

Women of the Match were Ceri (3) and Helen (3)
Other contenders were Becs (2), Nieves (2), Lou (1), Viv (1) and Heidi (1)
