Hackney WFC Firsts 4 Knaphill 0

Managers log – Sunday 13th October

On a blustery morning at the marshes, Hackney Firsts took on a somewhat depleted Knaphill team. We were slow off the mark and should have done better in opening up the game (somewhat a trait so far this season), but nevertheless managed to go in at half-time 1-0 up. Cue an emotionally charged team talk from Helen ‘hairdryer’ King and some canny managerial changes from Dodge, and we started the second half a different team.

Some beautiful passing from the midfield and good playmaking down the wings meant that in the latter part of the game, Hackney had many more chances. Tash took one of these artfully, and Welshy had a great time raging forward for Dodge’s set pieces. The Opposition never really challenged, thanks to a solid defence and our handy make-shift keepers. The game finished 4-0 – a strong performance in the end, and a good team effort all round!

Women of the match was Aimee Protheroe aka Welshy for not being afraid to put everything in front of the ball!
